Citing his “outstanding contribution” to small area estimation, the theory and practice of Bayesian statistics as well has his “superb teaching and mentoring of PhD students”, UNC alumnus Dr. Malay Ghosh of the University of Florida has been awarded the Samuel S. Wilks Memorial Award by the American Statistical Association. Dr. Ghosh received his Ph.D. in Statistics in 1969, under the direction of Dr. P. K. Sen.
