Nilay Tanik Argon and Serhan Ziya received an NSF grant to study mass-casualty triage

Prof. Nilay Tanik Argon and Prof. Serhan Ziya were recently awarded a collaborative NSF grant jointly with Prof. James Winslow, MD, of Wake Forest University. This grant will support the team's research on the development of simple but effective decision rules for allocating scarce resources (such as ambulances and operating rooms) in the aftermath of mass-casualty incidents. The project duration is three years with a starting date of September 1, 2009 and a total budget of $397K (UNC budget: $360K).
