Ancestor problem for branching trees
In a branching tree that is not extinct by generation n pick two individuals from the nth generation and trace their lines back till they meet. Call that generation number Xn. In this talk we will discuss the distribution of Xn and its weak limits as n gets large for the case of a Galton Watson tree for the four cases: m <1,m=1,1<m<infinity, m= infinity, where m is the offspring mean.
