Two New Faculty
The department is happy to welcome two new faculty members this year:
Prof. Jan Hannig will join us as an associate professor starting July 1, 2008. He is currently an associate professor in the department of Statistics, Colorado State University. He received his doctorate in 2000 from Michigan State University under professor Skorohod. He has active research programs in diverse areas: statistical methodology, fiducial inference, probability, and optimization.
Dr. Shankar Bhamidi will join us as an assistant professor starting July 1, 2009. He plans to obtain a doctorate in Statistics in June 2008 from the Department of Statistics, University of California, Berkeley, under Professor David Aldous. He will be a postdoctoral fellow at University of British Columbia during the academic year 2008-2009. His research interests are in Probability Theory, Percolation, Random Networks, Random Matrices, Probabilistic Combinatorial Optimization.
